A hundred translucent cubes that catch light like stained glass. On a light table they read as color; on a table they stack, sort, and balance into towers like any other block.

Lucent cubes

Beautiful!

This is a Christmas gift for my daughter. I originally purchased these as a companion set to our Bauspiel X blocks, but I know she will play with these on their own. They are so beautiful and such a perfect open-ended toy. I can’t wait to see what she creates with them!

Beautiful but fragile

These are beautiful and so fun to build with, especially if you have other bauspiel pieces like the Xs. However, they are fragile. Would still purchase but it's worth noting due to the price.

Should have bought the full set

I thought the half set would come with an appropriately sized tray, but no. It's a half empty tray. If I had it to do over, I think I would still buy the half set but without a tray. They are gorgeous rainbow colors, and I already know how they will wear with time so no surprise.

Ok, pretty but flaws

These are just ok. I had a couple dents and knicks in a few of mine because they fell out of the box during shipping.

Worth It

I was not sure at first how I would like these but they are so beautiful and versatile. I also love how they incorporate with other Bauspiel products!

Entrancing Fun

*Everyone* is drawn to these. They are fun to stack in a window and watch the light come through, use as loose parts, make patterns out of and use with other Bauspiel pieces. Littler kids love to plop in the holes of the grids and its fun for...everyone to make a wall of x-blocks and fill all the holes with cubes to watch them sparkle. After seeing my set, several other people have bought these themselves!

So many ways to play with them!

2 year old loves these, especially on a light table and with paired grid blocks. Some cubes have scratches after play, which happens fairly easily. Not an issue, just something to expect with the material.

What is different about the new color way? We have a set already and they look like the picture? (I think) Love them and definitely want if it’s a new set of colors.

My Toy Wagon

The new colorway was released last year and entailed slight changes with some colors (pink, red). If the one you have matches the picture, then you have the new colorway.

Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soapy water, then dry. Avoid disinfectants and hot water, which can cloud acrylic. Store in the tray or box so pieces do not scratch against each other.

Are the cubes safe for younger children?

The cubes are 1 in, smaller than the standard small-parts threshold, so this set is rated 3 years and up. Supervise younger children if they're in the play area.

Does this work without a light table?

Yes. The cubes catch any light, including window sun and lamp glow. A light table makes them sparkle, but it's not required.

What's the tray made of?

Sustainable wood finished with natural oil. Assembled in Germany.

Can I buy replacement cubes?

Bauspiel Bauspiel is Uwe Deckelmann and his daughter Hanna. 'Bauspiel' means 'building game' in German, and the line grows out of Friedrich Fröbel's kindergarten tradition of simple forms that ask nothing and allow everything. The wood is native European lime, alder and beech, with maple and cherry from sustainable cultivation, colored and oiled so the grain stays visible and the soul of the wood remains perceptible. The acrylic and gems come from Taiwan or China. Everything is quality-checked and shipped from Augsburg, Germany.
