Sixteen wooden stair blocks that climb in height, and sixteen luminous blocks that slot into their windows. Children line the steps from lowest to highest, then fill each window with color and watch the staircase light up.

Age Recommendations

345678

From age three, ordering and color matching; older children use it for measurement, patterns and big builds.

Why it lasts.

A staircase that teaches order, height and color, and then lets children build whatever they like with it.

Graduated steps

The blocks rise step by step, so sequencing and comparing heights happen with the hands before the words.

Windows of light

Luminous blocks sit in the stair windows and glow on a light table or in the sun.

Open-ended

Once ordered, the steps become towers, walls and patterns in any build.

Bauspiel Bauspiel is Uwe Deckelmann and his daughter Hanna. 'Bauspiel' means 'building game' in German, and the line grows out of Friedrich Fröbel's kindergarten tradition of simple forms that ask nothing and allow everything. The wood is native European lime, alder and beech, with maple and cherry from sustainable cultivation, colored and oiled so the grain stays visible and the soul of the wood remains perceptible. The acrylic and gems come from Taiwan or China. Everything is quality-checked and shipped from Augsburg, Germany.
