Why it lasts.

Solid maple, hand-painted. The red is the deepest color in the range and it is laid on thickly enough to survive being carried around. His beard and face are left in the bare wood, so the grain runs through them.

Who it's for

For the parent
It suits a family that puts out a few good pieces each December rather than a full village.
For the educator
He gives a December shelf a figure children can act out immediately, without needing anything explained first.
For the gift-giver
It makes a first Christmas piece that a child can still have out at twenty.

Ways to play.

He is the one figure in the set every child already knows what to do with. He delivers, he visits, he gets hidden and found. Put him at the far end of a shelf from the house and the distance between them becomes the story.

Materials & construction

Maple, hand-painted where it is colored and left bare where it is not. The beard and face are unpainted wood.

Care & storage

Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Keep it out of standing water and away from direct heat, which can open the grain over time.
